What is a Fire Safety Audit?
When a Fire Service Safety Inspector visits, they will carry out a basic evaluation of your premises to identify potential fire hazards, assess the level of risk, and recommend necessary measures to improve fire safety. Â
This is known as a Fire Safety AUDIT.
This process only gives a current snapshot of compliance with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it does not replace a Fire Safety Risk Assessment.Â
If, however, the Fire Service Safety Inspector identifies several significant issues during an audit, likely to endanger life, it is most probable that formal enforcement proceedings will result.Â
This is a certainty, if no Fire Risk Assessment has been undertaken prior to the audit!

Drummond Fire Risk is able to carry out a basic Fire Safety Audit on your behalf, giving you a quick and affordable opportunity to ensure you are well prepared beforehand.
Remember, a Fire Safety Audit is not a Fire Safety Risk Assessment. Indeed, our primary recommendation will be, you have one done if none exists.
Our Audit will be a means of making you ready for a formal Fire Safety Audit from the Fire Service, meaning you will be better prepared, have a good understanding of what is expected and prevent any potential legal enforcement proceedings being initiated should they discover any significant issues.
As Drummond Fire Risk utilise former Fire Safety Inspectors, we understand the nature of the audit and can remove any worry on your behalf, allowing you to demonstrate to the Fire Service, that you are running a fully compliant business.
Depending on the size or complexity of your premises, an audit generally lasts no more than an hour or so and you will be provided with:
Fire Warning and Detection
Fire Extinguishers
Means of escape. Â
Staff Training requirements
Bespoke advice and guidance throughout the whole process.
Full compliance with up-to-date government legislation.
As a Fire Safety Audit is a basic review of your premises, the cost is likely to be significantly lower than that of a Full Fire Risk Assessment. You will however have a general understanding of where you and your premises are regarding compliance with the Fire Safety Order.
If during the audit, it is shown that no Fire Risk Assessment is available, we will strongly recommend one be undertaken and you will then have freedom of choice to seek the services of an assessor of your choice and of course, be expected to pay the full amount accordingly. Â
If Drummond Fire Risk has previously undertaken an AUDIT, we already have a great deal of information and a good understanding of your premises and its requirements, we can carry out the Full Risk Assessment and provide a detailed report, at a significantly reduced cost.
