Fire Safety Audit
What is a Fire Safety Audit?
When a Fire Service Safety Inspector visits, they will carry out a basic evaluation of your premises to identify potential fire hazards, assess the level of risk, and recommend necessary measures to improve fire safety. This process only gives a current snapshot of compliance with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, it does not replace a Fire Safety Risk Assessment. If, however, the Fire Service Safety Inspector identifies several significant issues during an audit, likely to endanger life, it is most probable that formal enforcement proceedings will result. This is a certainty if no Fire Safety Risk Assessment has been undertaken prior to the audit.
Drummond Fire Risk is able to carry out a basic Fire Safety Audit on your behalf, giving you a quick and affordable opportunity to ensure you are well prepared beforehand. Remember, a Fire Safety Audit is not a Fire Safety Risk Assessment. Indeed, our primary recommendation will be to carry one out if none exists. Depending on the size or complexity of your premises, an audit generally lasts no more than an hour or so and you will be provided with:
- A review of your premises by a competent and qualified fire risk assessor/auditor, identifying what you need to do to prevent fire and protect your people.
- A written fire safety audit report that is easy to read and implement.
- An evaluation of your property&pos;s risk management, including any / all policies and procedures.
- Fire Warning and Detection
- Fire Extinguishers
- Means of escape - (clearly marked escape routes, emergency lighting and safe meeting points etc)
- Staff Training requirements
- Bespoke advice and guidance throughout the whole process
- Full compliance with up-to-date government legislation
Costs
As a Fire Safety Audit is a basic review of your premises, the cost is likely to be significantly lower than that of a Full Fire Risk Assessment. You will however have a general understanding of where you and your premises are regarding compliance with the Fire Safety Order. If during the audit, it is shown that no FRA is available, we will strongly recommend one be undertaken and you will then have freedom of choice to seek the services of an assessor of your choice and of course, be expected to pay the full amount accordingly. As we already have a great deal of information and a good understanding of your premises and its requirements, we can carry out the Full Risk Assessment at a significantly reduced cost.
